Rondas infantiles- Matarile rile ro

Growing up in NYC Projects we lived in a Spanish Community, where our Parents would teach us games of their childhood. Here is a favorite one I recall like a dream. The Song was 'Matariele, leile, lo'...We'd face each other little Boys impecably dress with starched shirts and little girls in pretty dresses. In this Song: We'd ask each other What Oficio~Office we would be when we grew up...We'd Say 'Ambo Sabe~Matariele, leile, leile~Ambo Sabe~Matariele, leile, lo. The Boys would ask: 'Que uste quiere~Matariele, leile, leile~Que uste quiere~Matalrile, leile, lo?'(in other words~what do you want to be?') The girls would say for example: ' Yo Quiero ser Maestra'~Matariele, leile, leile~Yo Quiero ser Maestra~Matariele, leile, leile lo! and we'd take turns professing our Office...Meanwhile, our Puerto Rican Parents would look on beaming with pride at our Joy of professing our future hopes. The year was circa early 1950's Bronx, NYC. mami, nana ana
