WAKE UP YOU CAT !

Yesterday, I had a refreshing walk to the library. I really enjoy my library day. My librarian loan me a memoir of her favorite authors: Beverly Cleary. I'm laying on the calendar to remember my library book due dates via osmosis :)
The book was not in the computer-so it was a 'Personal loan'.
The memoir was titled: A Girl from Yamil , it's wonderful read, I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the movie 'Places in the Heart' -Beverly reminded me of 'Possom' the little girl with the Buster Brown haircut (in the movie:) I love Southern Fiction, but of course this is a True story better yet.
The memoir is dated in the 1930's on a farm in  Oregon.
The story  works it's way through growing up on the farm and school days. There are also  beautiful sepia photos of the Cleary family and friends. It a poignant tale you have to read it to understand the wonderful life & world of Beverly Cleary. Towards the end it put me in mind of the movie 'Peggy Sue got married' a 1950's Teen-movie.
All be it, this book is a really good memoir of a young girls life of her dreams & hopes.
Beverly Cleary has written a second life-memoir about her 'College-days'...Our librarian said she once met
her along time ago. She was so excited telling me of their 'meeting'! Bonnie that's our librarian said 'Oh, Ms. Beverly I been reading your books since I was a little girl'!....and Beverly Cleary answered 'Oh, you just dated me, that makes me feel so old.
You can hear an audio interview with Beverly Cleary on NPR....
REMEMBER: Enjoy Southern Fiction & memoirs, too :)

SCRIPTURE PICTURE-JOHN 4

Jesus amd the Samaritan woman at the well.
He was exhausted from his journey and sat down by  the well. His disciples had left to buy food.
I've been studying the Gospel of John this past week. I keep thinking of  Jesus with his disciples, when he was cooking fish (after his resurrection) and he said, 'Come have Breakfast with me'.
I thought 'that's a good idea'-spending time with the Lord 1st thing in the morning.
No I don't eat fish for breakfast, but I do take a cod-liver oil gel pill close enough. I'm not trying to be funny, though my son just gave his wife a gift-book titled: Foods Jesus ate...
Back to the 'Scripture Picture' I fold a page in four and titled each list the following:
GOD            CHRIST JESUS            HOLY SPIRIT            PRE-PRAYER
as I'm reading, when I come across a scripture referring to each title,
I write the verses under each one.
Example: Son of the Living God...Messiah....Living Water....Share the Good News.
The Pre-Prayer list is the one I need to pray about and accomplish throughout the day. It takes discipline. Especially the part 'Come and have Breakfast with me'.
I am writing and sharing this very special time of the day as a reminder to myself.
I hope to continue this new journey with Jesus, that I may be filled with the living water and never thirst again .
Remember: The times of your life...The Lord knows them all and is interested in your sharing them with him.

EACH DAY IS A GIFT

Each day is a gift God has given to me;
When I am awaken to see what our wonderful Christ has in store for me.
I open my eyes and then I remember a Hymn I once heard on a day in December;
I speak of considering a pause you see; and pray to our God about our cares & pleas.
I try my best to meditate; even though I might be late.
So I breathe and try to visualize: How the coming day will be seen through God's eyes..
Now my mind is distracted with all kinds of things; as I'm wondering what the day may bring.
I always hope for a good surprise;
It may be the day Christ returns, so I'll imagine my prize...
REMEMBER: To enjoy the view of God's gift to you...

JASMINE'S ANGEL...

Jasmine is the name of a lovely white flower.
I see most every day on my noon-walk hour.
This sweet little flower is so cheery & bright; Gladdens everyone's heart whenever in sight.
On this wonderful Christmas of 2008; Jasmine sent me a gift... An Angel ! Oh, Great !
I opened the package and what did I see? A chrystal clear red Angel praying for me !
My eyes opened so wide that I almost cried. What a beautiful gift sent to me.
Jasmine your a sweet thoughtful girl and you've filled me with glee.
The red Angel reminds me to pray for you & me. Because I placed her where I'd see her dailey in front of our T.V. !
THANK YOU JASMINE

CREATIVE LOVE

Yesterday while visiting my grandson,
he handed me your gift, Open It ! he said not wanting to miss out on the fun.
He placed it in my hand as gentle as a dove. The pretty packaged gift was as soft as a cloud above.
I was surprised my heart smiled with a lift. "Aunt  Angie sent you a small Christmas gift !:"
I opened the blue wrap and to my surprise-four lovely quilted pads ! my spirit did rise!..
.Momma said 'Turn them around'. The pattern was the same on the other side I found.
These hand quilted pads, I will cherish with all my heart. Each year I've wondered what Aunt Angie's mastered- She's so smart.
I love these cute pads, they're so precious to me, for loving hands created them you see. To God I prayed for a loving examples. He gave me your love thru these small quilted samples.

LOVE LIFTED ME ...

I was reading an article in 'House to House' a christian newsletter mailed throughout the nation monthly. It's chock full of neat articles; scripture quotes; poems & quizes, too. This one caught my eye and reminded me of the above song...

IN THE PITS: A lady fell in a pit and everyone who passed by shared their own thoughtful concern....
Sensitive said: I feel for you down in the pit.
Reflective said: It's logical you walked to close & fell in the pit.
Asthetic said: I have some ideas as to how you can decorate the pit...
Judgmental said: Only a bad person falls into a pit !
Curious said: oh, how did you fall into the pit?
Perfectionist said: I believe you deserve your pit !
Evaluator said: Are you paying taxes on your pit?
Pity said: You should have seen the pit:(
Counselor said: Just relax, don't think about it...
Optimistic said: Cheer Up !!! things could be worse.
Pesimistic said: Be prepared things will get worse...

Our Lord & Saviour Jesus upon seeing the lady , Loved her and Lifted her out of the pit.

TIME FOR TEA...by Janet Kruskamp

.
On Christmas day, We were surprised with a large Gift- box full of goodies. Our darling sister in Christ  prepared: Jams & Coffee mixes for our Christmas gift.. The box was heavy and full of lovely sweet treats. She spoils us every year with her awesome concoctions of 'Home-made' delicacies.
A wonderful aroma came from the box- Wow! Surprise ! Five cute lemons from her own lemon tree!!! I have plans for those babies. Tried them in Tea very soothing with honey. And I cut a couple open-left one in the frig and placed one in a pretty glass jar above the sink. The sweet aroma of lemons remind me of Christmas morning with our wonderful & precious family in Christ...

(I smell lemons).Thank You, Sister Your a Star!

ANGEL FROST...

An Awesome image from Russia with Love. I came across what I'll call 'Angel Frost' from a missionary ladies web-site titled:'From Russia with Love'. The picture she took is of  morning frost on her kitchen window. It reminds me of angel wings, right?. There are more where this came from but this was the best one. Pretty awesome I imagine waking to such beauty from God.

My husband and I really enjoy the site, it's filled with interesting & unique images and cultural events from a  Russia sister In Christ..I came across it from another 'Church of Christ' missionary blog. The lady is originally from Ohio. I admire her photo-journaling of her day trips though her Russian town. The first one post  I saw was a video on 'Anastasia & her family', it was an anniversary of sorts. I love Russian culture: Their Art & Literature since I read 'Zoya'by Danielle Steel.
I met a young Russian college girl and her name was 'Anya' just like mine 'Ana' we became fast friends.
She was from Siberia, we learned a lot from each other.
I learned that Siberia (as I thought growing up in the 'cold-war' era) ., is not for outcast  disidents anymore. And she learned to relax and enjoy a trip to Hallmark, as she looked on in awe at so many beautiful things.
This precious child was in awe also at my sons graduation, when the college professor were dressed in colorful hats & gowns..We looked at each other and I  though (Pomp & Circumstance)...Then I whispered in her ear 'Such Degadence!..and we both laughed at and with each other.
REMEMBER: It's only cold outside, in our hearts lets  be thankful for Angel frost...From Russia with Love.

UNDER THE WEATHER-GO TROPICAL...

Sorry, I haven't posted lately, been sick with allergies. What we use to call 'Hay-fever', my mom suffered with it and now it's my turn. It started on Friday and kept me in all weekend. Sad to say,  I missed worship services my favorite day Sunday-'Domingo (dia de Dios) was spent resting up.

I need to drink more orange juice. I remember growing up having Tropicana Orange juice, it was great the best one around. They've since took it off the market (politically incorrect) to bad it had a large Hispanic following. Now it would come back as the 'Multi-cultural ' pure form the tropic orange juice !  Don't make  me laugh my ribs hurt.

My  husband & son laugh at my wacky ad ideas. Here's one : The  Flowbie,' okay, I came up with the idea of attaching a vacumn to comb & cutting my hair. You ladies remember just like the sixties hair-dryer.. To this day they laugh when I say 'remember the flowbie !!!'...
And who's father didn't invent the wagging dog on the rear seat window of the old Chevy, yeah, I know blame it on the Puerto Ricans. Okay, only I can say that and maybe my son, after which I'll call him some goofy Irish name (Angie & Scott,  I can picture you both smiling :)

Oh, my ribs hurt, if I don't stop now, I'm going to fall from  this chair laughing. Didn't want to create a sad post even when we're sick 'A cheerful heart is Good medicine'. Got to go drink some ( Tropic-ana) orange juice.

REMEMBER:  Enjoy 'California grown Orange juice'! (Ha-hee)...Keeping it real . lol Tropic-ana.
