Picture Bronx circa late 1950~Italian Bakery across the street from where we lived. The son of the Italian Baker sang 'Volare' to my sister Carmen~my mami always lamented, 'If you married El Italiano you would have never have wanted to Pan Italiano or go hungry'...I fell in love with his love song really early in the morning along with the scent of Pan Italiano. Oh, how he was capture by her dark hair, dark eye Italian beauty...she made me so proud, as she spoke to him in Italian, so coy and beautiful she was my Italian Sister...with tears this day I also lament~she should have married him and never suffer at all. God bottles our tears. Her beauty was beyond measure~my mami Italian boss always said when he saw her and I, 'Those lovely girls are not Puerto Rican, they're Italian! he loved when we'd visit and give us free blouses of every colour of the rainbow...and when he saw Millie and Diana, he'd say, now they are Puerto Rican beauties, too. <3 2 <3 Mami nana ana this Lord's day of March 20, 2022 AD~In the year of our Lord.
