Together is better...

Yesterday, Rebekah hosted the Ferndale 'Church of Christ' annual 'Fall Ladies Luncheon', and the young girls joined us. The weather was nice and sunny. One of our young ladies Courtney and I noticed that it rained lightly, we decided it was a passing shower. She is so bright and cheerful, I really enjoy her company a lot. The  ladies present were Sue and her daughter Rebecca with a 'b'; Angie and her two daughters Courtney and Jasmine, also little Wesley stood and joined momma & sisters; Starla and me.

Sister in Christ Angela led the lesson with the theme being, 'Treasures in Clay Vessels' from 2 Corinthians 4:6-7... For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.We discussed growing pains 'In Christ' for our spiritual growth for example: patience develops character;  providing we prayerfully acknowledge & apply God's strengthening and promised word to adversities in life. She used the scripture in verse 10, we are pressed on every side but not crushed; perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not abandonedl struck down but not destroyed.
It reminded me of  the book of Romans 8:28-39 'More than Conquerors', how all things work for the good for those who love God and are called 'according to his purpose'. And how nothing can ever separate us from his love and care. This precious powerful promise bought it home 2 Cor.4:14-16 God who raised Jesus is able to raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to over flow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart, though outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

I really appreciated the lesson especially when the Courtney recited a poem and Jasmine shared a quote, and Rebecca with a 'b' shared some nice things, too. Little Wesley shared his favorite 'Crayon Song' with us. Let's see if I remember: Red is for the blood Jesus shared for me. Brown is for the crown they placed upon his head. Yellow is for the Christian who does share Christ story...so sweet, it touched all our hearts. Oh yes, lest I forget Little Miss Emily (she's so cute-5 years old, you want to hug & cover her with kisses) led us all in closing prayers, she insisted on holding hands. She prayed ' Thank you God for the Chappel's... and God let the Chappel's come and visit soon. On hearing that cute request, our Host Rebekah had a big smile on her face.Well  we all enjoyed a wonderful spiritual feast. The luncheon was so delicious, too. As a take home treat, Rebekah created small pouches of chocolate treats filled with autumn leaves tied with a golden ribbon.

Remember: Enjoy your friendships in Christ sharing & caring in God's wonderful love.
